Trauma-Informed Yoga is specifically designed for people who have experienced trauma. It helps individuals reconnect with their body on their own pace. Trauma-informed Yoga is built on five principles:
Safety: physical and emotional security by creating a predictable environment.
Choice: every move is optional; you decide what feels right for you.
Consent: the language used is invitational not directive, and all boundaries are respected.
Empowerment: fosters agency and rebuilds self-trust.
Mind/Body Connection: cultivates present-moment awareness, we focus on what a movement feels like on the inside rather than how it looks on the outside.
Unlike traditional yoga that focus on 'poses' or 'shapes', and physical fitness, Trauma-Informed Yoga focuses on supporting healing, inner-strength and nervous system regulation.
